アニメや漫画って、人それぞれに深い思い入れがありますから、実写化するのは並大抵なことではないですよね。原作ファンを納得させるのは、かなりハードルが高いと思います。
「実写化の大失敗」として名高い『ドラゴンボール・エボリューション』(2009)ですが、主人公の悟空役を白人男性が演じたことに対して、超有名ユーチューバーがユーモアを踏まえて批判しています。

この映像は、2009年4月10日にYouTubeでアップされて以来、2018年末で、620万回再生されています。
映像をアップしたのは、1990年生まれテキサス州出身のコメディアンKevin Wu(ケヴィン・ウー)です。KevJumbaとして知られているYouTuberです。父親は台湾からの移民で、今回のようにアジア系アメリカ人のネタをいくつか披露しています。一時期YouTubeの活動を停止していましたが、2017年辺りから活動を再開し始めました。

Like most young Asian kids, I grew up loving cartoons, especially Dragon Ball. We pretty much dedicated our lives to this show. There weren't any other Asian supper heroes growing up. So Goku was like our only idol, our hero. Yay.
大抵のアジア人は、漫画やアニメに夢中になるよね、子供のころに。オレも本当によく観てたよ。特に『ドラゴンボール』！アジア人のスーパーヒーローってそんなにいないでしょ。だから悟空はアイドル！ヒーローだよ！
確かに、アジア人のスーパーヒーローはなかなかいないですよね。特にハリウッドでは顕著です。そういえば、2014年になると『ベイマックス』のヒロ・ハマダが登場しましたね。ディズニー映画で、日系アメリカ人が主役に設定されたのは初めてですよね。
悟空が白人？！
But Hollywood decide they're going to make a movie of our childhood fantasy and star this guy (Justin Chatwin) as our hero Goku,... Goku is white?? Wait.. What? This is ridiculous! How could they do that to us?
だけど、ハリウッドが俺たちの夢『ドラゴンボール』を実写化決定したんだけど、悟空役がジャスティン・チャトウィン！なんで悟空が白人なんだよ！馬鹿げてるよ！なんでハリウッドはこんな仕打ちをするんだ？
ちなみに０：４６にある"wtf" とは"What the f○ck!"（なんてこった！）の略です。
武術関連映画以外、アジア人はヒーローになれない
Hmmmm... There's no explanation to this. Oh wait, yes, there is! I know why. It's 'cause Asians aren't cool enough. We're just not cool enough. Look at us (William Hung). Look at how uncool we are! We've never been cool. We're still not cool. And unless we do something about it. We never will be. We're never going to star in a movie that doesn't have Karate in it.

アジア人が主役だと客が来ない？
Hollywood and television think that if an Asian would have the starring role, no one would go and watch the show or their movie. Is this true? Are we that lame? Are Asians really that lame? Huh. That's messed up!! Maybe I'm just hurt because my idol growing up is now being turned into.. into this guy (Justin Chatwin - you know this looks wack). Boo!
もしアジア人が孫悟空役をやったら、誰も観に来ないってハリウッドは思っているんだ。オレたちアジア人ってそんなにダサい？
So for anyone planning on watching this movie, try to avoid it. If you've watched the trailer already, you know this movie looks silly.

That's like making a Fred Albert movie starring Keanu Reeves as Fred Albert. That's like having an episode of Full House featuring my dad as.. as Bob Saget. Actually I lied. My dad looks a hundred times more like Bob Saget than.. than this guy (Justin Chatwin) looks like Goku. So why in the world would Dragon Ball want to cast a white guy to play as Goku?
And to all you Asians, I think we're very cool people. They're just jealous. They're jealous of our SAT scores, our food - we have good food.. you'd like our food - and our technology, Karate techniques and our cuteness. You know we're.. you know we're cute! You know we're .. you know we're cute!
奴らはさ、オレたちに嫉妬してんだよ。そうだよ。SAT（＝ScholasticAssessmentTest 大学進学適性試験）のスコアだってアジア人のほうが高いし、食べものだって美味しいし。
この映像のよかった点は、内容は「ハリウッド、マスコミに見られる人種差別」というかなり議論を呼ぶ、ある意味、扱いにくい問題なのに、ユーモアを交えて紹介した点。過激に取り上げなかったのがよかったです。

脚本やキャラクター造りは原作者としては「え？」って感じはありますが、監督さんや俳優の皆さん、スタッフなど、現場は超優秀な人達ばかりです。ボクやファンの皆さんは別次元の『新ドラゴンボール』
として鑑賞するのが正解かもしれません。もしかしたら現場のパワーで大傑作になっているかもしれませんよ！大いに期待しています！！

Dragonball Evolution Writer Apologizes to Fans
I knew that it would eventually come down to this one day. Dragonball Evolution marked a very painful creative point in my life. To have something with my name on it as the writer be so globally reviled is gut wrenching. To receive hate mail from all over the world is heartbreaking. I spent so many years trying to deflect the blame, but at the end of the day it all comes down to the written word on page and I take full responsibility for what was such a disappointment to so many fans. I did the best I could, but at the end of the day, I ‘dropped the dragon ball.’
I went into the project chasing after a big payday, not as a fan of the franchise but as a businessman taking on an assignment. I have learned that when you go into a creative endeavor without passion you come out with sub-optimal results, and sometimes flat out garbage. So I’m not blaming anyone for Dragonball but myself. As a fanboy of other series, I know what it’s like to have something you love and anticipate be so disappointing.
I hope I can make it up to you by creating something really cool and entertaining that you will like and that is also something I am passionate about. That’s the only work I do now.
